Hi! I’m Rachel and I love the Detroit Lions…
Truly, the article title does a pretty good job of summing things up. But, allow me to tell you a
little bit more about me, maybe you’ll figure out why you’re reading this article. And, if I’m lucky, you
may decide that you want to read more.
For my entire life, I’ve been a fan of all things Detroit sports, but football has always been my
number one and therefore the Lions have been my passion. Now, I’m not your typical Lions fan, in that,
I’ve spent my entire life living outside of the state of Michigan. Born just outside of Denver, I spent some
of my early years in the North Richland Hills suburb of Texas but have lived most of my life in Florida.
Central Florida currently.
So, what’s with the Lions obsession? Great question! Both of my parents were born and raised
in Detroit (not a suburb, in Detroit) and Detroit sports were a staple in my household. I can remember
my Dad taking me to countless Red Wings games, Tigers games when and where he could, the constant
“maybe next year” of the Lions games watched religiously on Sundays. And it just rubbed off on me!
There’s something I have always loved about Detroit fans: loyal to the very end. A community seeing it
through the good, the bad, and, well, the sometimes really…really ugly. Gritty. An identity the team has
taken since the recent start of the Holmes/Campbell era.
Over the past few years, I’ve explored various ways of sharing my love for this team with the
rest of the Lions community, bridge the literal, physical gap, if you will. I’ve dabbled with a YouTube
channel, joined phenomenal groups for round table discussions on the platform, have an active Twitter
account that has helped me to really connect with Lions fans far and wide and, now, the fine group of
gents at Rally Towel Sports have graciously invited me to their platform to continue to share my passion
with you, dear reader.
And what fortuitous timing! The league is abuzz with what the Lions are doing. The team is in
the spotlight, receiving attention we haven’t seen in quite some time from local and national pundits
alike. It’s an exciting time to be a part of One Pride! So, let’s enjoy it together?
Be sure to check in throughout the month for more from lil’ ol’ me, right here, on Rally Tally
Sports! And, of course, follow along with the Rally Towel gang and myself on Twitter to interact further.
Until next time! *virtual fist bump*
