They (Not really sure, who the fuck “they” is) say Bowling Green, OH is one of the windiest cities throughout the midwest. A generally flat, rural setting that has almost no topographical breaks or large buildings to disrupt or block gusts of wind that are similar to that depicted in the greatest film ever made, Twister. RIP Bill.
People often (incorrectly) blame the landscape and lack of architectural fortitude as the reasons why Bowling Green and esteemed place of higher learning, The Bowling Green State University, are a place of blistering wind chills. When in fact, independent research (me) would indicate that Bowling Green is so windy for one reason, and one reason alone.
Toledo sucks and Miami blows.
I’m not sure why I chose to go to BGSU. The campus isn’t overwhelmingly beautiful. In fact, I can objectively say that when I went on my campus visit, it was pretty drab. [They have since made some pretty stellar renovations.] It wasn’t the lure of night life, being that the student body population of my Alma Mater literally doubled the population of the town itself when school was in session.
It just felt right.
They (Again, who the hell is “they”?) say nothing good happens after midnight. Further evidence how stupid “They” are. Bowling Green, OH is laid out in a way that the campus greets you as you come off the highway, followed by some off campus housing and then Main St, which is littered with college-friendly watering holes. In between the bars and off campus housing sits a beacon of late-night gluttony. Taco Bell.
It was the middle of the week, and my roommate and I had just finished sampling all the finest ales our favorite spot, City Tap, had to offer. As we trudged back to our modest apartment, we passed the aforementioned establishment, and with a simple look, we both knew we were going in there and smashing some T-Bell. So we did. Little did I know, that choice would change my life forever.
As I approached the counter, I saw something I knew I wanted… a crunchwrap supreme.
Then after diverting my eyes to the left, I saw the most beautiful woman in the world. In my Lager-aided state, I somehow found the cojones to talk to this hippie-angel that was clearly out of my league. 6 and half years later, we are married with two gorgeous little girls.
It just felt right.
Have you grasped the theme yet? Bet you have, you goddamn genius.
Bobby, Todd and I all grew up within a few streets of each other. Bobby was my next-door neighbor and Todd and I played on the O-Line right next to each other for most of our football “careers”. National Champs, bitch.
When I decided to get back into Podcasting and noticed Todd and Bobby doing the same thing, I was really excited to collaborate. Sure, we would help each other reach new audiences, but also because it allowed me to reconnect with two guys who hadn’t really been in my life for nearly a decade. The collaboration has been seamless and I can’t really explain how we stumbled into such an awesome situation, other than by saying…
It just felt right.
I’m excited for this blog to be an additional outlet for us to connect with the growing RTS community and I appreciate you taking some time to read this. My hope is that all of you can latch onto at least some parts of my writing and it allows you to get to know me a little better and in a different way.
See you soon.
Xoxo,
Corey
